(Here's some specs as well). Did a search for part number AP2030996 and was taken to a page showing four items including this one. As three of the pictures looked correct I was left with a choice of this, the WB44X5099, and two versions of the WB44T10010. As this item was $15 and the others were $25 and $28, I chose this one. Wrong choice. Upon receiving this item and finding it to be the incorrect I reviewed the postings and found the following; The picture for this item on the search page and the first, (of three pictures), on the item page are incorrect (and are instead the WB44T10010). I am returning this item and have already ordered the other. I offer the following information in hopes it helps others in avoiding my mistake. 1) The main heating element loops look almost exactly the same. 2) The major noticeable difference between the two items is that the WB44T10010 has prongs that extend 3 inches behind the plate and bend up halfway back at a 45 degree angle. Volts: 250.Exact replacement but not OEM The oven element that I received installed in a snap and works fine. It has identical physical dimensions to the GE-labeled WB44X-5099 that it replaced. The price was good and quick shipping was included in the item price. The reason for the downgraded rating is that the new item is clearly NOT a GE OEM part. The stamping on the mounting plate is generic, unlike the GE trademark symbol on the old element. The item arrived in a plain brown box, not the GE-labeled box shown in one of the customer images. I believe the expectation for an original GE OEM part was set by the item name and the notation "by GE" as the manufacturer. Hence the downgraded rating. The original GE element endured at least 10 years of typical and frequent household use. It is really unknown how long this new generic one will last - the best I can say is that they are cheap enough that I could always stock a spare if so desired. |
| Good, low-cost replacement part This heating element replaced one in our oven that may have been original with the oven (the oven came with the house, so we don't know how old the whole thing is). This heating element works great...maybe better than the old one. The only headache I had was screwing the plate into the wall of the oven. The screws are very short and they were a little fat for the holes that were there. But some extra elbow grease got them in and they are holding tight. And the old unit was attached with three screws. This unit only has two. This was probably the cheapest heating element I could find and I really can't argue that it's a good investment. |
