Microwaves are very high voltage appliances that can kill a person if you don't know what you are doing, so it is a do it at your own risk fix. The main components of the microwave are the transformer, high capacity capacitor, high voltage diode and the magnetron. The charge stored in the capacitor can kill a person, so it has to be discharged before messing with it, so it is better advised that you leave it to a pro. In my case I first tried changing the diode that was shorted but still had the same problem, and it was obvious that it was the magnetron.
