After reading reviews of microwaves online, it seems there's a significant minority that sustain damage from being shipped to your home, hence our choice to purchase from local Costco. This unit is used every day mostly to reheat food rather than cook. Users range from age 11 to 47. We have had the unit for 3 months so far. PROs -Easy and intuitive to operate. -We didn't have issues reading control panel. Lettering is light gray on black, so is not high contrast, but we use +30s button and sensor reheat button all the time and don't need to "read" it to know where to push. -Convenient +30 sec. button. -Sensor reheat heats things piping hot, but DON'T use if you put a cover over your food (this blocks the steam that would trip the sensor to stop cooking when food is done). -Door is easy to open with push button operation;... |

I selected this as the best bet of the lot after reading reviews on every brand out there.Given the market-wide poor reviews of microwaves at the present time, I debated spending the $90 to get the keypad on my five year old Sharp 1200 watt mid-size oven fixed instead of buying a replacement. I opted for this one, however, so here are some pros and cons. For starters, Sharp no longer makes a 1200 watt mid-size. This step down to 1100 was the closest I could get without going to other brands whose product reviews are awful. While it appears that Sharp's quality isn't what it used to be, I have in the past at least found their warranty service to be good. The beeper at the end of cooking time NEVER stops beeping. It goes off in cycles of three loud beeps every minute or two. So if you think you can put in a dish that takes some time to cook, go upstairs and come back to tend the food at your convenience without the beeper either driving you crazy or waking the... |
| Not as good as my old Sharp Microwave I bought this one to replace two other Sharp microwaves that I had very good luck with. One thing I like about this one is it is quieter than my last one. The door on this one is stainless steel like my last one. The finish on my new one is a gloss finish and is easy to wipe down. The finish on my old one was a matte black (rough style) finish and was a pain to clean. It left paper towel residue on it and never looked clean. The 1.8 cu. ft. is plenty big enough for me and my wife but it seems to lack just a little bit of power over my old one. My one big complaint is that the control panel is very hard to read. You have to get very close to see the numerals on the buttons. I had to put a small flashlight on top of the unit to be able to see the panel. My kitchen is bright but the overhead light does not illuminate it enough. My old one had very bright contrasting numbers. I did not notice this in the showroom. I can see a lot of complaints coming in on this issue. One other minor... |
