Nice power for the small form factor. Seems to cook food very evenly with no hot or cold spots. The whole unit tends to move when the door release is pressed so I have the unit right up against the backsplash in spite of the manual saying 3 inch rear clearance is needed. Also, the manual says 12 inches of open space is required above the unit. I don't think it is possible to put this unit on any counter under a cabinet and maintain 12 inch clearance. We have never had a problem with other microwaves in the same location. Update***Feb 2015 We have had this unit for a few months and we remained overall very pleased. If the Kenmore people are reading this I have a small suggestion. Once the cooking cycle is complete please display the word "DONE" or continue an intermittent beep to remind the user the cooking cycle is over. |

The microwave works fine -- but the handle does not open the door as an 'instant release' -- it takes both hands making it awkward if you are holding something to put inside it. | Good for a year, then noisy We liked this for the first year. It does all the major things you'd want, like hitting one button for 1-6 minutes. But then it developed a rattle which got progressively louder. How bad was it? Enough to get us to spend another $100 on a Panasonic (which is slightly bigger, has way more power, and more features). We tried analyzing the rattle, checking the smoothness of the wheels under the turntable. Just an annoying little creature, consigned to the basement until we find a needy (hard of hearing) person. |
