It is an exact duplicate of the original handle on the door. Of course to replace the handle you have to take the door apart which involved us breaking a few plastic tabs - but it went back together ok so hopefully it will last a few more years before we buy another microwave. Regardless, you'd think that a company as large as GE would run stress tests on components that are in direct use day in and day out and address the poor design(s) in their products. (I say this because based on google results it appears that the handle breaking on this microwave is a VERY common problem). I guess we can only dream of quality appliances! |
| See Products Related To General Electric WB15X10071 Microwave Door Handle: GE This is a Genuine Replacement Part, The Model Number and Name for The Following Item: General Electric (GENF0) WB15X10071 Microwave Door Handle.Broke in 3 weeks. 1) This was a huge pain to install. This is not really an issue with the handle, but rather, the whole design of the microwave door. 2) As far as the door handle, it was working great, and looked great, until it broke the same as the original. At least the original lasted 8 years, this replacement lasted only a few weeks. I am a pretty handy person, have repaired/installed things a lot more complex than this handle; when I had read about people replacing this handle multiple times in a year, I thought they must be doing something wrong. But, it happened to me now, and it's just the terrible overall design of this microwave's open/close functionality. The tubes at both ends of the handle should be made with alternative, stronger materials than what is in place now. GE needs to acknowledge this and send some incentive for me to stay a customer. We will shortly be replacing all our appliances, and we're definitely not looking at GE products. |
